Q. What is Remy hair?
A. Refers to human hair which has been harvested from root to end, with all of the cuticle going in the same direction. It is different from Virgin hair as it may be colored or permed, but has not had the cuticle removed. It is generally soft and silky, and is used in making higher quality wigs, extensions, and hair systems.
Q. What is the difference between human hair and synthetic hair extensions?
A. Human hair extensions are higher quality and offer more versatility for styling. You can change the color and perm them. You can use heat for styling: blow dryers, curling iron, flat iron, hot rollers, etc. Human hair extensions feel like your own hair, or better.
With synthetic hair extensions you are limited, as you are unable to change the style or curl them. Any heat will frizz and damage the hair, including opening a hot oven, hot tubs, blow dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, wall furnaces, etc
Q. Can I use straightening irons on my extensions?
A. Yes, as long as you use a heat protector spray.
Q. Can my extensions be coloured and permed (curled)?
A. Yes. Only a hairdresser should do this. They can be coloured as normal. Only clip in hair extensions can be permed, and only by your hairdresser, they should use their lightest perming solution.
Q. How often do I need to wash my extensions?
A. Clip in hair extensions will not require washing as often as your own hair. As a guide if you wear them daily they will need washing approximately every 3-4 weeks. Micro Ring hair extensions you wash your hair as you would normally depending on how often your own hair needs washing.
Q. Will the clips rust?
A. No.
Q. Can I sleep in my extensions?
A. No.
Q. I haven’t looked after my extensions, how can I revive them?
A. Wash them as per care instructions on the pack using salon products only. Make sure you rinse shampoo out thoroughly. Gently work conditioner through the hair, and leave in for 12 hours then wash out. Leave them on a towel to dry.
Q. Will the extensions fall out?
A. No, not if you install them properly, as per the instructions. Clip in hair extensions, you can check them once they are in place by gently pushing down above each clip. You will be able to feel they are secured properly.
Micro Ring extensions have silica gel inside the metal ring to stop them slipping down the hair.
Q. Will you see the extensions in my hair?
A. No, not if installed properly, as per instructions. Leave enough hair over the top layer of extensions to cover them (finish approximately 3-5cm from the top of your head)
Q. Can you cut and style the extensions?
A. Yes, your hairdresser can style them for you.
